What the Nigerian constitution says on removal of CJN

According to section 157 of the constitution, the Cable reports, the president can remove the CJN, who is also the chairman of the National Judicial Council, only while acting on address supported by the senate over the person’s misconduct. Protests break out at NBA secretariat over Onnoghen’s suspension

The Punch reports that the protesters on Monday, January 28 called on the president to rescind his decision and return Onnoghen. The protesters carried placards of various inscriptions, including, “Tanko Mohammed, stop parading yourself as CJN;” “NBA must act now by ordering lawyers to down tool;” “Amaechi, El-Rufai, Akpabio, Malami, APC: brains behind Onnoghen’s trial;” “NJC must reconvene now and expel Justice Tanko Mohammed,” among others. Akeredolu, Ezekwesili task stakeholders on justice delivery

The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has charged stakeholders in the judiciary to find a lasting solution to problems of justice delivery in the country.He said despite that there have been innovations to curb the malaise, the maxim that justice delayed is justice denied remained true till date.
